Rapport is Power
Click here for the next module
Rapport is complete responsiveness between two people, and it's achieved through a sense of commonality. Being "in rapport" with someone means you can communicate more effectively, from a place of trust. You can get people to like you by being intentional about matching their style, then backing it up with real substance.
Reflection and Discussion
Have you ever had really good rapport with someone? Thinking back, what was it that caused the feeling, on your end?
If you would change things about how YOU move, talk, act, etc, for the sake of building rapport, would that feel like manipulation because it's not really you, or would you see that as part of the service you provide, by approaching your customer in a way that they can connect with?
Is it natural human behavior to make adjustments to your "style" depending on your circumstances and who you're with? Think of how you dress, act, talk, at a house party on a Saturday night, vs (on the extreme opposite end) at a job interview, or a visitation?
