The Problem of Selling
Click here for the next module
The problem of selling is that nobody wants to do it. It doesn't feel good! It doesn't feel "nice" to schill, or schlepp, to feel like you have to "sell to survive." People are their core want to be wanted, and they want to help. Knowing that automotive retail customers don't often act like they want our help, how do you think about and approach what we do? Really salespeople are more like counselors, or consultants, than anything else. Except it's like court mandated counseling, because the customers think they don't want to be there! So what's up with that...
Reflection and Discussion:
Do you like to sell? What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it?
What are the things that customers do that make you feel like they don't respect you and don't value you?
In the face of this, how do you stay positive? What do you tell yourself, or remind yourself of, to avoid being dragged down by the customer's mindset?
In the information era where everything is online, do you think that customers still value the. personal interaction that often comes with a large purchase? Why or why not?
