Pillar 1 (one) of salesperson belief: You can sell everyone. You know it's not true, because nobody has a 100% closing ratio. But convincing yourself that it's possible, and believing it, primes your brain and keeps you looking for every opportunity for the deal to go right, rather than subconsciously looking for reasons why it wasn't your fault that they didn't buy.
Reflection and Discussion:
Assuming that everyone had the authority and money to complete a purchase, do you believe you could sell everyone?
Have you ever lost a deal over something you thought couldn't be overcome, only to find out later that the customer found a solution somewhere else that you could have provided? How did that make you feel?
Have you ever been in a situation where you were trying to guide someone in a certain direction, and they ended up buying something else, despite your guidance?
List some reasons (other than their lack of authority or money) why you can't sell everyone. Write them down.
Now, look at each item on your list and ask yourself, is this something that's subjective (based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions), or objective (not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts)?
Is it sometimes possible that things that seem like facts (as relayed by others), are actually opinions, interpretations, or assumptions?
